In August 2008, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) was signed into law in the US. The Act requires manufacturers of children’s products to test and certify their products to ensure they meet specific safety standards. It also requires manufacturers to comply with all CPSC regulations, employ third-party testing to ensure products have no harmful components, and label items with place of origin and batch numbers. Mudpuppy assures consumers that they are in compliance with those regulations. They have tests for all products in their warehouse showing that they meet CE and ASTM standards, including those for lead content. They have been testing for lead for several years, and can assure customers that they are compliant with the 2008 regulations.

Mudpuppy products have been completely phthalate-free since 2007.
