What little lady wouldn't look adorable in this wildly popular heart dress? It is made from 100% baby alpaca wool, which is a hypoallergenic and highly sustainable material. It is not a prickly wool; it doesn't make the skin feel itchy.
Fairly traded.
Oeuf, a New York based design company, was a pioneer of fair trade and eco-friendly products long before it was fashionable to do so. Oeuf’s knits are produced by and fairly traded with a group of Bolivian artisans, who are among some of the poorest people in South America, giving them hope and income.
What is fair trade? It is all about making sure that products exported internationally from “developing” countries to “developed” countries are produced under fair conditions. That means promoting the payment of fair prices, safe and healthy working conditions and responsible environmental practices. Fair trade is important because if workers are not being paid fairly, we are indirectly taking advantage of people just so we can have what we want. Imagine having to work over 8 hours a day in an unsafe and filthy factory. Not so nice is it? Just something to think about when you shop.
And besides being staunch believers in fair trade, Oeuf has made it its mission to ensure environmentally sound products starting with the choice of materials to the manufacturing processes to the selection of recycled packaging.
